Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette is a Canadian was born on June 1 1974 in Ottawa. Alanis' Greek is a male version of the surname Alan's father had. The name of her mother is Georgia and there are two brothers named Chad as well as Wade (Alanis"Twin"). She learned to play piano when she was just six and began playing guitar at age 21. In 1986 Alanis released a single titled Fate Stay with me (b-side: Find The Right Man). Her albums were recorded as dance-pop vocalists from Canada: Alanis (1991) and Now Is The Time (1992). Her move to Toronto in the year 18 and started working with music and writers, but these collaborations did not work. Glen Ballard was the producer/songwriter she picked in 1994. Glen has previously collaborated with Aretha Frankin, Michael Jackson and Barbra Strreisand. She then moved to LA at age 19. On June 13th 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was released by Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis found a way of recording songs that were very personal and autobiographical. JLP has sold over 30 million copies around the globe. It has become the best selling female album as well as the 3rd top-selling album of all times.
